SR 89-Fanny Bridge Community Revitalization Project
This project will realign State Route 89 between Granlibakken Road and the junction of State Route 89/State Route 28 junction to replace the aging and deteriorating Fanny Bridge and to accommodate traffic demands on SR 89 and at the SR 89 / SR 28 junction in Tahoe City. SR 89 is being realigned as a new 2-lane segment that crosses through Forest Service Land. The western and eastern ends of the new segment are single-lane roundabouts, with a new bridge over the Truckee River. A third roundabout will be constructed at the existing 'wye' intersection in Tahoe City at the junction of SR 89 / SR 28. Multi-use paths in the area will be realigned and go under either end of the new Truckee River Bridge. Construction began this summer and is expected to be complete in 2018.
