TESLA GIGAFACTORY TECHNICAL TOUR

Join us for the Tesla Gigafactory Technical Tour!

We will learn about Tesla's history, products, the Tesla mission, and how the Gigafactory fits into that mission. We will also hear about the approach to designing and engineering the Gigafactory and we will be able to visit some of the production areas to see how the products come together.

We will be offering two tours - one on September 14th and one on September 20th. Both tours will begin at 4PM and will be limited to 20 people each, so RSVP today!

Please make sure that you are registering for the correct tour date. If the tour fills up before you are able to register, email us to get on a waiting list.

The cost is $5 for students, $15 for ASCE members, and $20 for non-members. YMF sponsor companies receive two free tour spots - thank you CME and Golder for your support this year!

GREAT BASIN HALL TECHNICAL TOUR

Join us for the Great Basin Hall Technical Tour!

Great Basin Hall is being built to keep up with the increasing demand for on campus student housing, which currently exceeds 122 percent. The hall will have a STEM theme - science, technology, engineering and mathematics - to promote academic success within these disciplines. While the University is able to accommodate all current residence hall requests, new facilities are needed to increase capacity and continually improve on the quality of accommodations offered to new students.

The tour will be Wednesday, October 4th from noon to 1:00pm.

The cost is $5 for students, $15 for ASCE members, and $20 for nonmembers.

Engineering Abroad: Mining and Gas Pipeline
Engineering in Mexico

Being an engineer has its challenges, but being an engineer abroad brings a diverse and unique set of challenges of their own. The presentation will include discussions on these unique challenges as well as a variety of project work performed in Mexico. Topics will include design and construction of a heap leach facility (HLF) for a gold/silver mine near Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico as well as a horizontal directional drilling (HDD) project completed near Tuxpan, Veracruz, Mexico.

Golder Associates Inc.

Randall Rice is a Project Manager at Golder Associates Inc. and has over 12 years of engineering experience, including project management, construction management, design, preparation of reports, plans and specifications, cost estimates, and administrations of a variety of projects.  His experience includes land development (UD&I), Oil & Gas Pipeline, and Mining Engineering. Randall is a licensed professional engineer in both Nevada and California and earned his Civil Engineering degree from the University of Nevada, Reno; he is the current president-elect of the ASCE Truckee Meadows Branch.
