ASCE Truckee YMF
Who We Are: The Younger Members Forum is a group within ASCE created for members that have graduated college and who are under the age of 35. Our group in particular is a part of the Truckee Meadows Branch in Northern Nevada.
What We Do:
The YMF Chapter of the Truckee Meadows ASCE Branch is actively involved in our community, has a close relationship with the University of Nevada, Reno student chapter, and hosts several events each year aimed at providing both networking opportunities and professional development for our members.
Our group attends several career fairs each year at local schools with the goal of introducing civil engineering to students who might not know what the career is or how to become an engineer. We also give presentations to individual classes about civil engineering as well as college and scholarship opportunities.
To try to get everyone out of the office to have a little fun we also host several large events throughout the year. These include our annual tailgate event, bowling tournament, and golf league. These events attract students, younger members, and professional members – so without knowing it, everyone is networking and having fun at the same time! Keep an eye out in the monthly newsletter for information on these events.
Our group hosts technical tours of local civil engineering projects throughout the year. They provide an opportunity for local engineers to learn about projects in the area as well as earn PDH’s. Some of our most successful tours in the past few years include: the Virginia Street Bridge, Pyramid and McCarran Reconstruction, and the E.I. Wiegand Fitness Center. Check our events page to see what tours are coming up and to sign-up!
